Hallmarks of Cancer

  • Self-sufficiency in Growth Signals- Cancer cells are not dependent on normal growth factor signals.

  • Insensitivity to Anti-Growth Signals- Cancer cells do not respond to growth inhibitory signals

  • Tissue invasion and metastasis- Alterations of the genome may affect the activity the activity and levels of enzymes involved in invasion

  • Limitless Replicative potential- Cancer cells remain the length of their telomeres

  • Sustained angiogenesis- The formation of new blood vessels that spreads the tumor throughout the body

  • Evading Apoptosis- Cancer cells evade apoptotic signals
