The Cell Cycle and Cancer
The cell cycle is an order of events that lead to cell growth and division in the production of two daughter cells. Normal cells only divide when a receptor attaches to the cell and sends signals to begin dividing. Cancer cells do not need a receptor signal to begin its division process. They divide on their own and a lot quicker than the normal cells
DNA mutations may be caused by:
-
Radiation
-
Smoking
-
Pollutants
-
Chemicals
-
Viruses
This video illustrates the difference between normal cell division and cancer cell division.
